Blocking someone on TikTok can be a quick fix for dealing with unwanted messages or content. But if you’ve had a change of heart, or maybe blocked the wrong account by accident (it happens), unblocking them is just as simple — once you know where to look.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through the steps to unblock someone on TikTok using both the mobile app and the desktop version. I’ll also answer a few common questions around what happens after you unblock someone.
Where to Find Your Blocked List on TikTok
TikTok doesn’t make the “blocked users” section very obvious, so here’s how to find it:
- Open the TikTok app on your phone.
- Tap on your profile icon in the bottom right.
- Tap the three lines (menu) in the top right corner.
- Select Settings and Privacy.
- Tap Privacy.
- Scroll down and tap Blocked accounts.
You’ll now see a list of everyone you’ve blocked. From here, you can unblock anyone with a single tap.
How to Unblock Someone (Step-by-Step)
On Mobile (iPhone and Android)
- Follow the steps above to open the Blocked accounts list.
- Find the person you want to unblock and tap the Unblock button next to their name.
- That’s it — they’re now unblocked.
Alternatively, if you remember their username:
- Go to the Search tab and type in their username.
- Tap on their profile from the results.
- You’ll see a button that says Unblock — tap it.
On Desktop (Web Browser)
TikTok’s desktop version is a bit more limited, but you can still unblock someone:
- Go to TikTok.com and log in.
- Visit the profile of the person you want to unblock.
- Click the Unblock button on their profile page (if they’re currently blocked).
If you don’t remember their username and need to find your full blocked list, it’s best to use the mobile app.
What Happens When You Unblock Someone on TikTok?
- You’ll be able to see each other’s content again (unless they’ve blocked you too).
- They can follow you, like, and comment on your videos again.
- You won’t automatically refollow them — you’ll need to do that manually if you want to reconnect.
Note: They don’t get a notification saying they’ve been unblocked. But if they try to visit your profile after being unblocked, they’ll be able to view it like normal.
Can You Reblock Someone?
Absolutely. If things go south again, you can always reblock them by going to their profile and tapping the three dots (•••) in the top right, then selecting Block.
